Duffy created one of the nation's first hospitalist programs and served as the Chief Experience Officer (CXO) of the Cleveland Clinic,〔(Doctor to Oversee Hospital Experience ) American Medical News, January 7, 2008〕 the first senior position of its kind in a healthcare system.〔(WANTED: CXO to Transform Patient and Hospital Employee Experience ), AMN Healthcare, December 2007〕 She is currently the Chief Executive Officer of ExperiaHealth,〔(ExperiaHealth ) ExperiaHealth〕 a leading resource for hospitals seeking to humanize and improve the patient experience by harnessing the power of actively engaged physicians, nurses and employees.
Her work has earned her the (Quantum Leap Award ) for taking the risk to spur internal change in her field and has led her to be featured in (HealthLeaders magazine ) as one of "''20 People Who Make Healthcare Better''."〔(20 People Who Make Healthcare Better ) HealthLeaders, December 2008〕 In her role as CXO at the Cleveland Clinic, she elevated the priority of Patient Experience by linking it to patient safety and clinical quality.〔(The Total Picture: Developing a Patient Experience ), Trustee Magazine, February 2009〕
Duffy attended medical school at the University of Minnesota, and she completed her residency in internal medicine at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she created and served as Medical Director for one of the first Hospitalist services in the country. Duffy also served as Medical Director of Medtronic, Inc.
